The Association of Montana Public Health Officials will use the Higher Logic web platform to create a cloud-based application that enables Local and Tribal Health Departments to share resources and discuss and provide each other with technical assistance on specific public health questions. The Higher Logic platform has been used by the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO), NNPHI, and other public health organizations. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the need for this resource has become more pressing. With limited staff and funding, county and tribal health departments face an overwhelming range of new tasks, such as issuing isolation and quarantine orders, creating spreadsheets for contact tracing and monitoring quarantine, developing fact sheets for a wide range of audiences (such as daycares, first responders, shelters, and law enforcement), drafting letters to businesses not following public health directives, and issuing press releases and public statements that are informative but comply with all privacy laws. This investment will create a critically needed platform for counties and tribes to share templates and offer and receive advice and assistance as questions related to COVID-19 arise, and beyond the pandemic as well.
