Montana Public Health Workforce Assessment

Project Term: 12 months; Ended 2019
Grant Amount: $11,000

The Public Health System Improvement Office developed and shared an assessment of Montana’s public health workforce. To inform the evaluation, they sent out a survey that was completed by 50 county and tribal health departments and 668 public health professionals, to determine workforce interests, needs, and competency gaps. The results gave a comprehensive assessment of public health workforce demographics and priority areas for development. This information will contribute to workforce development activities that are better aligned to meet the health needs of Montanans. At present, the Montana Public Health Workforce Development Group and member organizations are incorporating findings from the assessment into 2020 statewide workforce development activities.
